A little fash round up!

I’m still winding down from London Fashion Week and no sooner than I was home, I launched myself into a new fashion filled week. There is no end to the cycle and seasonality of style. So I’ve put together a little summary of what you need to know from the last week (or two or three)

A brand reborn

Do you remember the time when everyone wore Caterpillar boots? Back in the late 90s, when TLC rocked the baggy jean and Cats look? Ok well maybe you’re not as old as me then! A well established brand that made high quality footwear with an industrial twist was a fashion fad and now they are back with one huge JCB and digger size bang! Superstar singer Shontelle (“Nothing feels right when I’m not with you, sick of this dress and these Jimmy Choos”…) was in London last week to sign her name for fans at Schuh, Oxford St. Strutting her way around town in these booties, looking all fab.

No more rumaging…

TK Maxx have just launched a new range called “Gold Label” in Dublin this week, introducing some amazing designers to the store, like Stella McCartney and Michael Kors.

No longer will you have to rumage for that designer steal, now they are marked there for your viewing and purchasing pleasure.

Some of my favourites are this Chloe Green Tote (€829.99) and a Michael Kors leather jacket (€129.99). Pop along on your lunch break and bring your credit card.

New looks at New Look

Following the stellar success of the opening of it’s flagship store in Dublin’s city centre, New Look’s popularity goes from strength to strength. Following the key trend for Spring/Summer of a colour splash, check out tgreat pieces at great prices, like this soft orange mini dress.

The stylenation.ie team are busy editing our filming from London Fashion Week. First up is the super and sophisticated collection from Paul Costello for A/W 2011. Minis, tartan, metallics-an eclectic mix of colours and textures made this collection bold and confident. Later in the week, stylenation will bring you my chat with Paul about the collection and some feedback from the peeps on the front row!

Styleisle in the press!

Check me out at Red Radar today where I give my lowdown on London Fashion Week!

Oh and I’m on Fashion Capital talking about the great show by Bora Aksu!

LFW – Day three

Let me start by saying I am love drunk with fashion right now. I think I might even have OD’d. Yesterday was a juxtaposition of sophisticated and the ridiculous. Jasper Conran opened Sunday for me with a collection that any women would fall in love with. Constructed and tailored pieces came in black, mustard and burned orange. Mid afternoon took me to Topshop Unique (pic above taken from the end of a catwalk with a lens worth about £3k which I borrowed from the Canon lounge!). The 101 Dalmatians inspired show had the models made up to look like puppies, slightly ridiculous but gosh the clothes were cool.

Dirty yellow and black were the key colours, as it is with Holly Fulton who showed this morning alongside fellow Topshop NEWGEN designer David Koma.

Topshop was also a celeb fest, with me spotting my fashion idol Anna Wintour (below drinking coffee on the front row. Cos she can I guess ).

Also in attendance was Alexa Chung and Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud who rocks that pale look so well.

(Left Alexa Chung, at Topshop! I took these pics btw, I’ll make a photographer out of me yet!)

(Right Nicola Roberts)

Running back to Somerset House, alongside fellow TV presenter for Real Candy in the UK, Zoe Hamilton and cameraman Simon, we made it back for Osman. I got to chat to my new BFF Laura Whitmore who looked amazing dressed head to toe with the designer. She’s a doll, and it’s great to see a fellow country woman do so well and she gave me loads of time with the interviews which is gold dust to a presenter. Osman was better than I could have imagined. And to my surprise I am just perusing the press pack for today (copies of all the press coverage of the day before) and it’s barely mentioned. I must also rewind slightly to Saturday where Issa took us back to the 1970s with some amazing maxis and when Yasmin Le Bon is modelling, it will never look bad. Highlight of this show was sitting behind her husband, Simon!

The end of the day was the highlight for me. Just being present at Matthew Williamson was a treat. Sienna Miller, Stella Tennant, Twiggy, Jo Wood making up the front row. The collection was astounding and was magical to my fashion tinted eyes. Textures like fur and leather, embellishment, mixing fabrics…it was a kaleidoscope of colour and textures. I loved it.

It’s day four now and it’s my last day here. This morning Holly Fulton and David Koma took to the floor. People were almost jumping off their seats at the end it was so good. Break now to catch up on some blogging and stay tuned to http://www.rte.ie/trte where you can read my lowdown on fashion week on their Red Radar blog! Also, stylenation will have all my interviews with the celebs and show coverage over the coming week. I’m off to look around the exhibitions now and then the day and fashion week will be over for me with Mark Fast at 6pm.

I’m wrecked but it was worth every second! Styleisle out for now. x

LFW – Day Two Betty Jackson

Betty Jackson being a well established designer in the UK delighted the crowd with yet another sophisticated collection full of colour and beautiful textures. Kicking the show off with a defiant display of red, and moving onto nudes, the pieces are so well crafted as I expected!

Here’s a taste!

Red was the colour with some beautiful soft textures for Winter.

See through fabrics were also a key trend.

Jamilla Jamil with whom I had a lovely chat about fashion! She was head to toe in high street!
