What I’ve been up to May 8 2012

I’ve been pretty busy of late with trips to London to shoot for The Green Magazine’s June issue and I am working on a feature for their July issue too! I’m so excited to be working with such a great publication and lovely team. I am also so happy to have a new agent, Kellie at TalentBase, who will be looking after me and all the work I am doing! Here’s to a great relationship with them! This week I get to go to the premiere of Dark Shadows in the Lighthouse Cinema which is a great excuse to get dressed up! Plus Champion Sports are having a press event tomorrow, which is perfect timing since I have just rejoined the gym and I need some new gear!

Just some small changes to note too! This blog is going to be kept for all my own style posts and pics and all the news and what’s going on in the world of fashion will on www.styleisle.ie so make sure you subscribe to it!

Next week will be even more exciting as I get to go to London again with Boohoo.com for a great blogger event so make sure you read all about it over on styleisle!

I’m obsessed with print

I’m on a print binge at the moment. My blog is full of it and I cannot shut up about how fun they are for summer in my newspaper columns. I’m also getting all print-tastic for a shoot I am going in London in two weeks. So I had a look at all the press releases I got this week for some inspiration and the selection at New Look caught my eye (and they’ve loads to match them too). Might have to gets me some.

New Look spring summer 2012

A few other things I am up to this week, aside from moving house, next week I have a pile of meetings to do lot’s of fun things (will tell you all when they are confirmed!) and have the Charlotte Olympia event at Brown Thomas (I might need bouncers to keep me away from her, I lust after her shoes) and the Diet Coke and Jean-Paul Gaultier launch at Harvey Nicols. Busy week ahead but someone has got to do it.

Oh I’m getting loads of questions about the designer of my wedding dress but that is staying under wraps until the big day! Even some of my nearest and dearest don’t know.

And here is my new girl crush, Charlotte Free!

Me and Gok have a chat!

A few weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing Gok Wan. Visiting Dublin to promote his new collection with Specsavers, I chatted to him about his unbelievable career and his future plans. Here’s a little snippet from the article:

“I will never say no to an interview with someone I admire. In fact, I’ll cancel dates and drive the country to make time for an opportunity which I know my readers will love. In the relaxed surroundings of the Dylan Hotel, I got to share a sofa with Gok Wan to talk specs, shopping and how he does it all. Gok is on his second collection for glasses giant, Specsavers. “It makes sense for me to design glasses not only from a fashion point of view. I’m known for my glasses” he says. “This second collection now is all the style people wants. It’s far more considered. The first collection has done very well, and I hope people come back again”. Gok is an easy going chatty guy, and on a whistle stop tour of Dublin to promote the brand, my fifteen minutes is slotted amongst radio and television appearances, although he did tell me he was fitting in some shopping at Brown Thomas. I almost asked if I could come but professionalism prevailed over excitement.

Oh and if you happen to get U Magazine this week, take a look at my pic to promote the Enable Ireland Give Up Clothes for Good campaign!

So what have I been up to?

Gosh it’s been ages since I posted up here. Most of my effort these days are going into http://www.styleisle.ie which is growing and I am so grateful to all my dedicated readers! Since January, I have had a hectic few months. I’ve written a great summer feature for The Richmond Green magazine in London and we are working on a shoot for them too, I have become involved in the Enable Ireland Give up Clothes for Good campaign and there is a great feature coming up in U Magazine shortly, and I am shooting a movie this weekend, where I am Head of Costume! The styleisle empire is growing and thanks to a lot of hard work and some great people I have met along the way, I couldn’t be happier. Fashion week was great as always and the Irish were strongly represented both on the catwalk and in the audience. I had my photo taken for Elle Japan! Anyway, thanks for all your support and keep reading my personal posts here (I promise there will be more) and styleisle.ie!
