Ruby Cotton – Try and Buy

Last week I popped over the mecca that is fashion city to check out the Try and Buy evening being hosted by fabulous Irish online store, RUBY COTTON. The site has an amazing selection of labels including Soma and Sugar Hill Boutique. I picked up a great Miu Miu inspired horse print mini dress and cardi to match (which I wore on Xpose, yet to air so stay tuned to TV3!). Here are some pics from the evening (including me with owner Laura). I’ll be writing up a full review of the site on www.styleisle.ie later this week!

In case you’re wondering, my leatherette jacket in the pic above is from Forever 21 and faux fur snood is from ASOS. What you can’t see in the pic is my FABOOSH thigh high black suede boots which I got in Venice a few years ago and I am so happy to be able to wear them again. Boots are the only good thing about Winter.

today I’m wearing…the first video blog post.

I’ve taken advice from someone close to me that for a long time I should have been video blogging as well as writing, well here you go. On my holidays and a well deserved bit of R&R, I have started to document through the medium of video the looks I put together whether its to hit some trends or just some experimenting with my look.

This video can be seen in full over on my You Tube channel or here if you prefer to have a read of the blog while you are here. The look today is edgy with some layering, faux fur and accessorising with my new obsession, hats. Have a look and leave me a comment with your thoughts!

River Island – A/W 2011 preview

River Island has just previewed it’s Autumn/Winter 2011-12 collection and I went along to have a look. Great textures, leather, a little touch of neutral colours, lot’s of luxe leather handbags, faux fur gloves (they’re orange!), colourful chunky knits….if this is a taste of what is to come, I can’t wait! Take a look at my pics!

Karen Millen – on trend for A/W

Karen Millen’s collection for A/W and Christmas epitomises the classic look which has been synonomous with the label for many years. Not departing from this tradition, too much, KM has introduced new textures, cuts and hues for this collection, bringing together its penchant for classic tailoring and the need for the lady to keep it up in the trend stakes.

With names like, Tokyo Weekend, Crystal Lights and Dark Romance, the aroma of feminity is in the air. New ideas like, making a coat the key piece in an outfit, sequins as day wear and the famous cape, make the collection attractive but wearable.

Here are some of my personal favourites:

I fell for these thigh high taupe suede boots, but at €450 a pair, I better start saving!

The on trend cape for A/W, this one is a really wearable and flattering shape.

The classic KM party dress with ruffles, also comes in coral. The ruffles soften the constructed look of the dress.

The military look with grey hareem style jeans.

The styling of the looks was impeccable which is attributable to the amazing taste of KM’s  Trend Manager, Ainsley and Creative Director, Gemma. KM will be styling its Irish Brand Ambassador, Karen Koster at this weekend’s Dublin Festival of Fashion, so watch out for this lovely lady in this season’s looks. Also, I spyed Aurora Fashion’s Ian Galvin and stylist extraordinare, Constance Harris, checking out the collection!

Here are the gorgeous Baiba and Sarah who delighted the press with some of looks on display:

Thank you to Gemma at Presence PR for the beautiful images.
