Ruby Cotton – Try and Buy

Last week I popped over the mecca that is fashion city to check out the Try and Buy evening being hosted by fabulous Irish online store, RUBY COTTON. The site has an amazing selection of labels including Soma and Sugar Hill Boutique. I picked up a great Miu Miu inspired horse print mini dress and cardi to match (which I wore on Xpose, yet to air so stay tuned to TV3!). Here are some pics from the evening (including me with owner Laura). I’ll be writing up a full review of the site on www.styleisle.ie later this week!

In case you’re wondering, my leatherette jacket in the pic above is from Forever 21 and faux fur snood is from ASOS. What you can’t see in the pic is my FABOOSH thigh high black suede boots which I got in Venice a few years ago and I am so happy to be able to wear them again. Boots are the only good thing about Winter.

Drool for Balmain

Oh I just love Balmain. I will never in my life be able to afford it but I will endeavour to try and replicate it’s style vicariously through ASOS, Awear, The Kooples (my new label crush) and All Saints.

For those of you with some spare pennies, Balmain are now taking pre-orders on their A/W collection so for those feeling generous, I’ll have this whole outfit. Please.

ASOS A/W 2011/12 … just a peek.

I just took receipt of the ASOS Autumn/Winter 2011 lookbook and OMG I’m officially in love. And potentially broke.

I’m not going to spoil it for you, but here is a quick look at what to expect from the online retailer. This shot reminds me of Mulberry for some reason. No justification but it was the first designer that came into my head when I saw the Autumnal colours and beautifully crafted leather bags (on the right).

Key trend hint: Don’t be afraid of clashing colours! LFW had so much of it. And make red your new colour!

Oh la la ASOS!

My latest magazine fetish is not a glossy..no. No you see what you may not know is that online retailer, ASOS have their very own magazine to revival any of its printed counterparts. Out on April 4th, the next issue features the future Mrs. Mark Ronson, the devinely French, Josephine de la Baume.

Currently the face of Mango, the model has now turned her attention to music.  Influenced by Mark, perhaps, but nevertheless it’s an exciting time for the French-born tastemaker who spends most of her time on the Eurostar.  “My ass is sitting in between two chairs as we say in France.  I feel very French when I’m in England, but less so in Paris.  But home is where my heart is, and London is where Mark and I always meet.”

Josephine recently formed the band SingTank with her brother Alenandre and is recording with famed producer Nellee Hooper [Madonna, Bjork, Gwen Stefani].  “Mark gave me advice, but he knew where to stop.  He doesn’t give me advice as ‘Mark the Producer’, it’s ‘Mark the Boyfriend.’”

The model and singer has acting, which she is famous for in France, in her growing repertoire of talents; after all, to be a triple-threat seems requisite these days in Hollywood.   The Princess of Montpensier, Josephine’s most recent film, was selected for last year’s Cannes Film Festival and she is currently filming One Day, a film based on David Nicholls’ novel directed by An Education’s Lone Scherfig.

With everything happening in Josephine’s life, the soon-to-be Josephine de la Ronson (?) has conquered the most important sartorial challenge a girl has to face in life.  Finding the perfect wedding dress.  The style maven’s friend and designer Zac Posen will design the dress she’ll wear this September when the couple weds in the South of France.  Fashion’s love affair is a two way relationship for Ms. del la Baume.  “I love Vivienne Westwood, Richard Nicoll and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.”   Talented with impeccable style; Jealous?  Of course you are.

The ASOS Magazine May issue features Josephine on the cover along with a portfolio inside shot by Daniel Riera

The full interview and photo-shoot appear in the May issue of ASOS Magazine, distributed to customers and featured on www.asos.com from 4th of April.
