Summer may not have come to us this year, but despite the lack of sunshine, as a nation we still love our shades. Sales maintain their levels throughout the year and even on the rainiest of days, I am occasionally guilty of wearing my Raybans to complement an outfit. Sunglasses trends this season definitely vary from oversize frames a la Rachel Zoe and the Olsens who pioneered this trend a few years ago, to the Aviator which is one of my personal favourites for men and women. A new Irish based website, Smart Buy Glasses, has just launched offering great value on designer glasses in every shape, size and colour. So I couldn’t resist a post on some tips and trends available on the website!
The Minimal Frame
I’ve been obsessed with Tom Ford ever since his days at Gucci, but since venturing into accessories and his own mainline collection, his popularity has soared. Tom Ford sunglasses are coveted, due to sleek design and comfort. His minimal frame is his key success factor and I just love how they suit every face shape! And his choice to not overtly cover the frames in his logo, is very appealing to me. The minimal frame is sleek and a great style for lazing on the beach or strolling through a bustling city on a weekend break. My favourite way to make up a look to go with these shades, are dark denim skinny jeans, white t-shirt and a coloured blazer. Like the trend, keep accessories to a minimum.
We can blame Robert Pattinson for this trend. Rayban’s popular frame is associated with celebs escaping the paparazzi but they are chic and represent the coolest of sunglasses trends. Sitting slightly lower on your face, the wayfarer is a bigger frame which comes in a variety of sizes and colours to suit your preferences. I think these are a must have for any festival goer this summer!
A perfect circle
The braver fashionistas amongst us are definitely familiar with this trend. Lady Gaga leads the way on this one and Prada were quick to take up the trend. Circular frames suit heart shaped or smaller face shapes and create a soft look despite the statement look of the frames. I quite like these in black and are great for a day at the races to match any colourful emsemble!
I’m on a print binge at the moment. My blog is full of it and I cannot shut up about how fun they are for summer in my newspaper columns. I’m also getting all print-tastic for a shoot I am going in London in two weeks. So I had a look at all the press releases I got this week for some inspiration and the selection at New Look caught my eye (and they’ve loads to match them too). Might have to gets me some.
A few other things I am up to this week, aside from moving house, next week I have a pile of meetings to do lot’s of fun things (will tell you all when they are confirmed!) and have the Charlotte Olympia event at Brown Thomas (I might need bouncers to keep me away from her, I lust after her shoes) and the Diet Coke and Jean-Paul Gaultier launch at Harvey Nicols. Busy week ahead but someone has got to do it.
Oh I’m getting loads of questions about the designer of my wedding dress but that is staying under wraps until the big day! Even some of my nearest and dearest don’t know.
I don’t know why I do it to myself. But I always log onto Net a porter at the start of each season and make my wishlist. I know. It’s torture. Thankfully if I can just get inspired then that’s good enough for me. So here are my picks. So far 🙂
