Isabel Marant is getting a shop

Isabel Marant, one of my favourite designers is taking her first British shop space in Mayfair, London. Parking herself next to some of her rivals like Stella and Matthew who are already established on Burton Street, Isabel is no stranger to retail, with famous stores already in Paris and Bejing [details from The Telegraph]

To give you an idea of what to expect from Isabel this season, take a look at some of these pics [images from net-a-porter]:

Irish Design focus….Sinead Doyle

I love to blog about someone who’s ability I totally believe in and this is so true for Irish designer, Sinéad Doyle. I interviewed Sinéad a couple of months back on her take on design and Irish fashion and since then I have been following her work.

Sinéad is about to launch her sixth collection under her own name. Unexpected transparencies and multiple garments merging as one are key elements from “Amalgamate”, her beautifully titled collection. Amalgamate combines tailoring and corsetry with luxury silks and wools in quirky new ways to create uniquely individual, beautiful and wearable garments. The collection is a mix of ready to wear and made to order pieces. Key items include the silk chiffon palazzo pants, the woven leather and wool jacket and a heavily corseted wool/cashmere suit.

The Amalgamate collection will be exclusively available from Project 51 in South William Street, Dublin 2 from August 2011 where private commissions can also be arranged and as with previous collection, all garments are manufactured in Ireland.

Burberry Autumn/Winter

I am so excited about this post. I am honored to be on Burberry’s press list and one of the advantages of that is seeing imagery of new campaigns and new seasons well in advance. So when I received an official email from Burberry tosay with their new Autumn/Winter campaign shot by my photographer idol, Mario Testino, I got just a little thrilled.

The images feature new cast members Edie Campbell,  Milly Simmonds, Callum Turner and existing Burberry campaign model Cara Delevingne and paint an enthralling picture of what to expect from this iconic label. Christopher Bailey can do no wrong in my eyes and whatever I see from Burberry… just makes sense for me. I look at the pieces coming down the catwalk at London Fashion week each season and I find myself giving the same response “Ok, Christopher you might just better yourself every season”. Burberry has always been my style especially last S/S when I almost fainted at the sight of nude studded leather jackets and splashes of aquamarine thrown in for good measure.

And in case you want to know why I get so excited about Burberry, here is a look at the A/W 2011 show:

I’m over at Red Radar again!

This week I’m on Red Radar again talking about Better Fashion Week! Here’s a snippet!

“Dublin fashion week may not be on the fashion calendar anymore, but the forward thinking ladies at Redress have come up with an alternative. Better Fashion Week is now on until Saturday May 22nd, kicking off last night with its first public event, an Industry Talk hosted by Irish designer Éilis Boyle. On the panel were designer, Joanne Hynes (my Irish design idol!), stylist Aisling Farinella and Murcia [name to be confirmed] from Parisian label Andrea Crews. Events over the week will include talks and workshops by top industry professionals, including, photographer Andreas Petterson, Steller fashion editor Carina Gaffey, designer Peter O’Brien and RTE Off the Rails presenter and stylist, Sonya Lennon so if you are starting out in the industry, here is your ticket to getting up close and personal with the leaders in the field!”
