Dress for Success

Last week, the first lady of Irish Fashion, Sonya Lennon took to the streets of Dublin, with 50 of Ireland’s hottest models, to launch Dress for Success.

Dress for Success; a global not-for-profit organisation in aid of disadvantaged women launches a Dublin branch this October. To celebrate, Dublin’s top modelling agencies came together to offer 50 models, free of charge, for a fashion parade on last Thursday and I was there (along with stylenation) to take it all in and support my friend with this wonderful cause. With Dublin city as their catwalk, the models (and helpers) collected funds on a walk from Arnotts (DFS Dublin’s super partner) to Grafton Street and then out by private Luas to Dundrum Town Centre.

Dress for Success is Dublin’s first ever Irish affiliate and is one of 114 affiliates in 12 countries. Sonya has brought this charity to Ireland which offers a chance for the fashion industry to support disadvantaged women in the community.

Dress for Success is an international non-profit charity founded in New York in 1997 designed to help women find jobs and remain in employment. The charity provides disadvantaged women with one suit for a job interview and a professional wardrobe once employment has commenced. The charity also provides a Professional Women’s Group, personal Business Mentors and a Career Centre offering career guidance and technology skills to give women more confidence in their job searches.
