Curves Members Donate Over 8,000 Bras for Charity

Last October, Curves women’s only fitness franchise, asked women nationwide to donate their old bras to the 60+ fitness centres throughout Ireland in a bid to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. This hugely successful campaign resulted in the collection of a staggering 8,145 bras, weighing an impressive 479 kilos. If these bras were to be joined up they would be taller than the Empire State Building and would be over 800 elephants long! Curves supplied bespoke pink bins to each of its fitness centres and the initiative received a huge response. The Curves gym in Beaumont came top of the bunch with its members and community collecting an incredible 32 kilos – approximately 545 bras. Gill Brady, spokesperson for Curves said, “Curves is delighted to have been involved with this project. It is a really perfect fit for our gyms given that our customer base is entirely female. With the outstanding support from Curves members, we are very excited to be handing over a cheque for €526.90 to the Irish Cancer Society”.
